GIRL ON A MOTORCYCLE-Linda Sobek

I had bought this photograph for my ol’ man many years ago at a vintage motorcycle swap meet. It’s been displayed on a garage wall along with other beautiful women, motorcycle and car posters. Years after buying the photo, the ol’ man found an article in a magazine about the “Girl On A Motorcycle” photograph and it’s origin. He cut out the article and placed with the photo in the page protector storage sleeve.
I would like to find out what magazine this article was published in, if anyone knows, please contact me.

Linda Sobek - Girl On A Motorcycle

Quoted from the article:

SOME INFORMATION on the photograph used in your Thick Skinned leathers feature (Aug ‘95). It was taken on the back straight of Willow Springs Raceway, Rosamund, California in 1986 by dirt track rider turned photographer and stained glass specialist, Shorty Seabourne. The girl is Linda Sobek. This was her first really professional modeling job. I used the picture in advertising for my vintage motorcycle videos. Linda went on to become a Los Angeles Raiders football team cheerleader and still models today. She was featured in the 1994 Mikuni calendar.

As far as I’m aware our picture of her is the only semi nude photo she ever did. I say semi nude because she had a small G string taped to her lower torso so that none of her major private real estate was exposed to the attentive photographer or any of the members of the crew.

The bike is a bitsa built from scratch. It had an MV Agusta frame, a 125cc NSU engine, a Honda front brake, an AJS Stormer petrol tank, a much modified replica of a Peel Dolphin Mk III fairing, a Figlas windscreen, and a home made seat and oil tank combination.

Originally the frame housed a five speed 175cc ohc engine which was very flaky. I spent about 80 hours working on it for each hour I rode it. I have one trophy from Cotati, California, one of the few times the bike finished. Weakest part was the shear pins in the cams. They broke like fine china dropped from a Gypsy Moth.

I am very aware of and followed her murder case very closely. She was murdered and found within 50 miles of my home.

I am looking for the original magazine publication that the photograph I posted was published in.

Murder is just plane wrong. I wish I had a copy of Lind’s motorcycle picture hanging in my Brit bike shop.
